Thanks Chris, for the information. Until fairly recently we had a Kodak
production facility within Australia, too. Some paper
certainly was made here. I don't recall the specifics on what film. The USA
vs grey market situation is an interesting one. Of
course not to suggest that imported film in USA might be inferior. Rather a
marketing issue, I imagine. This particular film is
actually marked Made in USA. It is EBX 135. So I presume it has been around
for a while (at least long enough to run out of date
here). Just not something I have noticed previously. Very likely because I
use all Fujifilm products currently. Regarding the few
rolls I got, it was 20% of its marked retail price (and 8% of the Velvia
100F I later located). So I'll use it up on non-vital
stuff.
Cheers
Hoppy

In the US we would call that "Vivid Colour" gray market film. Film produced
in India, Malaysia, or China not meant to be sold overseas. As Kodak and
Fuji film/chemistry prices rose over the past decade many smaller local
shops started buying gray market as they could not longer afford to buy in
large bulk from Kodak or Fuji. Not trying to start a USA vs Gray argument at
all.

However I haven't paid close attention to the Kodak activity recently. This
week on a short

sellers in a small capital city. The friendly Kodak dealer

There were several rolls marked Vivid Colour, which I
