Hi guys,

The ReidReviews site that BD mentioned actually has a m8 with the
"golden release" of the firmware, and the images that Sean Reid posted
on that site are from a production level camera with that firmware.
That's why he is able to release images from the camera.

For what it's worth, Sean mentioned that the same final firmware has
been made available to a waft of other reviewers, so expect a flood of
reviews anytime soon (certainly sooner than the actual release of the
camera to market, said to be in late Nov / early Dec!) from the likes
of Phil at DPreview.

In fact, Michael Reichmann over at Luminous Landscape has mentioned he
will release a report this week!

Now i'm not affiliated with Reidreviews in anyway, just a normal
subscriber, but I do feel it's a site worth paying money for, as
opposed to paying to send your lenses to Solms to get them 6 bit coded!
- which, btw is not necessary - I shot my 28 cron on a demo M8 when
Leica brought it to Singapore about 2 weeks ago and can see no traces
of vignetting - that's from firmware 1.05, which I believe is just a
little lower than the final golden release :) Sean's reviews are highly
informative and based on real world shooting and testing, and since
he's also a working full time photographer, he splices up his reviews
with plenty of real world photos. If u're looking for scientific
reports complete with test charts, MTF graphs, this is not the site for
you.

I'm surprised the LUG hasn't heard that the firmware has been
finalized! :)
