Setting up and milling there is not trivial, but a good operator ought to have no difficulties. Dependent on minimal dimensions even the shape of the indent may not need to be exact. I suggested that Tom A might be a prime candidate some time ago. However, I don't know about any patent issues. Leaving that aside, the location of the six indents is the same for every lens, so the machining process ought to be identical for all. Paint of course would require finding the applicable code for that model. I hope we don't see a spate of listings on the Bay with "some Dremel chatter marks on the rear element" Oh wait, those coatings are so tough that the elements won't be damaged ;-) Cheers Hoppy -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Alastair Firkin Sent: Sunday, 29 October 2006 09:58 To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] 6-bit code as installed by Leica Quite disappointing indeed: I suspect the "practical" folk on the list will have another string to their bows: I'm sure Tom A would do it well ;-) On 29/10/2006, at 10:27, Brian Reid wrote: > I got my 28/f2.8 Elmarit back from Leica today with the 6-bit code > added. > I must say that to my eye it looks like rather shoddy work.
