The impression on me is the opposite.

Full-frame thumbnails and cropped to square full-size?

Pure stupidity. Otherwise I haven't had that much of an issue with 
Flash. I don't like it. I install it on my machine for the rare 
occasions when it works well, but I usually leave sites that use it 
fairly quickly.
