I probably would prefer the pumpkin shot in B&W. What I think I like about
it is the graphic quality (circles in opposition to the diagonal lines). The
bright color distracts from this IMHO.

How much difference in resolution or other picture quality parameter do you
think there is between the M8 and  the D-lux (in a reasonable focal length
to focal length comparison)?

Having just received my D-Lux3 a few days ago, I will be watching for images
captured via this tool.
