The dark petals are actually a bright yellow and the lighter pink is dark brown. In daylight the lines in the petals hardly show at all. It's like the UV penetrates the skin of the flower and goes deeper. The spots on the petals are pollen and also hardly show. Ultra-violet photography is mostly used in police work to show where children were abused and the areas of abuse no longer are visible in normal light. It actually shows the damaged blood vessels under the skin. I don't know how this works with some flowers. Thanks for the comment. And Luis, don't look at these flowers as normal photos. The UV totally changes the character of the flower. But as you say I'll keep experimenting. I'm just running out of house flowers.
