Lots of dust (sand, coal) and dirt to protect your gear from. Above all, expect wind and cold - warm underwear should be the core of your "equipment". What are you planning to shoot - landscape, industrial architecture, people, Spring Festival ceremonies ...? Inner Mongolia's coal mining and industrial areas might be best photographed in colour because colour is actually so very rare there.
