Tina,

Unfortunately, the customer service and shipment from blurb.com is not yet
commensurate with the quality of their books. Now that they have a great
product, they probably need to review their systems and customer service a
bit. Sending out notes that begin, "As you are probably aware" to someone
outside the US who was referred as a purchaser doesn't cut it--especially
when they're helping book creators use a referral network for sales!

I just found out today that blub.com uses a network of print partners to
create and then ship their books. So to us it's a mystery where your book
is being created, or where it is in a print queue. For instance, as I was
told two people could order books at the same day and time, yet one would
get the book(s) much sooner than the other. The first person's order might
be most efficiently served by a printer that has a sizeable queue (but is
closest to the recipient), while the other person's order can be fulfilled
very quickly by a different printer.

That's why blurb.com uses a vague "seven working days" comment, and "five
working days" shipping note to cover their production issues.

Usually blurb.com wouldn't have any problems with this arrangement--until
they happened upon a group like ours, which ain't exactly shy about sharing
information around the world! On the other hand, they did say that the LUG
yearbook is one of their all-time bestsellers (all-time being about ten
months.)

That said, I was told my book would be here Monday--and it arrived today.

Hope you like your copy! Your images look just wonderful.

Best,
Jim

No. I ordered my on January 3rd and it's supposed to get here on the

to my door :-(
