Doug,

Don't make it hard on yourself. The memory card is a drive just like  
the hard drive on your computer. All you need is a card reader and  
you can download the files any where you want. The issue is the raw  
files. Not every program can read raw files, Leica, Canon, Nikon or  
whatever. Maybe 4 or 5 programs can. If your computer were in New  
York and you were in Europe, what would you download the photos to?  
That computer would need one of the software packages loaded to see  
them. Your friend was right about shooting jpeg in that situation.  
Every graphics software package made can read jpeg.

A kiosk can certainly print jpeg files. Really doubt if they can  
print anybodies raw files.
