Ric,

I don't use a lens shade (hood) with my Summitar. I haven't really
felt the need for it and, like you say, it defeats the purpose of a
collapsible. The shade I have for the Summicron and Elmar 50 (the one
that slides on and them clips into the grooves that these lenses have
up front) will fit on the lens. I have put it on to see, but that is
what I didn't do ... "see". The whole thing takes up too much of the
view through the viewfinder.

So I quit trying. I've never really felt I am missing anything. Mine
has good coating. My Elmars flare a lot, but not this one.
