Jim,

Do you really think that Leica is going to keep on giving free Band-Aids 
or crutches ad infinitum?  Be serious now. They or Kodak have a defective
system.  They will come out with a better sensor that has no 
anomalies.   It will probably be called the M8a or the M9.

No company can exist for very long offering patches  for a system with 
holes in it.
