Doug,

I think that you are off by a factor of 10 on your "decades", but you are on 
the right track.  I just sent DAG an e-mail about a CLA on my Leica IIIa, 
which I purchased in 1952 and have never had it serviced since then.  That's 
5.5 decades, and it seems dirty on the inside.  It still works, however. 
I'm sure the lube is shot and it needs some TLC.
