The advantage of using some fancy software to do your backups is that it 
lets you do incremental updates. You can back up your entire disk on 
Tuesday, and then on Wednesday you can add to that backup only the files 
that have changed since Tuesday.
This is a very valuable thing because it means that you will actually do 
backups more often.

But any form of backup is better than no backup.
