Harrison,

I agree with your assessment of NHRA drag racers.  When our kids were 
pre-teens we lived close to Atco Dragway in South Jersey.  I took my 
son over to see the drags, got into the pits through some connections, 
and the racers made a big fuss over him.  We then went near the finish 
line to get a sense of the speed of the cars at the end of the run (and 
to see the parachutes pop out).  It must have made an impression on 
hims as last week he did some parachuting himself, earning his wings at 
Ft. Benning.  He did lose a tooth in the process, but that's another 
story.
