Apple is turning Green. The company has decided that it will stop
potential computer pollution of the environment by minimizing the
amount of toxic materials in its products. As a first step it is
replacing the fluorescent screen illuminating lights with white LEDs.
Eliminating fluorescent tubes means that no mercury will be used. Of
course this doesn't remove the other toxic materials (cadmium, lead,
etc.) used in computers but it's a start. Apple will also recycle old
Mac computers for free.

Al Gore is on Apple's Board of Directors.
