Subject: [Leica] Now RAW effecient Workflow?. old -- RAW or JPEG? ;-)

Hi Jerry,

With Lightroom, my workflow has been greatly simplified and is as follows:

1) Copy RAW images from the card to a folder on the computer
2) Open Lightroom and import the RAW images from the folder in step 1,
converting the images from RAW to DNG in the process
3) In Lightroom's Library module, go through the images and delete the
obvious losers
4) Go into Lightroom's Develop module and make whatever adjustments I
want to make on the images that survived the cull in step 3

That's it. I'm done. At this point, there are four things I can do with
the output of step 4:

5a) Nothing, the images just sit in my DNG folder, ready for use
5b) In Lightroom's Library module, export selected images as JPEGs,
renaming them in the process if needed (this is how the images I use in
my Picture of the Week are generated)
5c) Using Lightroom's Web Gallery module, create a web gallery for
upload (all galleries on www.frozenlight.eu are created in this way)
5d) Print an image using Lightroom Print module.

You will note that this process involves just one piece of software,
Lightroom. It works with the RAW files generated by my Canon DSLR and
the DNG files from my Ricoh GRD (or with scanned images). It works the
same way on my Mac and Windows machines, and the files can be moved
without problems from one platform to the other.

Hope this helps,
Nathan
