Ken, a fascinating bit of Americana.
Regarding the HDR, was the scene really so high contrast that a single 
exposure couldn't cope?
Whatever, your exposure as shown works really well. I'd maybe be tempted to 
brighten/whiten the snow? Could be my sub-tropical
perception of how white it should be in an ideal scene. You know what they 
say about yellow snow though ;-)

Comments and criticism welcome.  It is an early digital (Canon digireb)
image, 28mm Canon lens, processed with the HDR Photomatix stand-alone
version into CS3.
