Just to throw my worthless 0.02 cents....I have HK x0.85 magnifier 
(bought as a bundle with x1.25 one). Even though I do not own any wider 
then 50mm lens yet, I played with x0.85 one on my M6 willing to see how 
it will fare 28mm frame lines (I consider acquiring 28mm lens to round 
off my focal lenghts line-up). I'm an eyeglases wearer, but even though, 
I found 28mm lines are clearly observed with x0.85 one without much 
strain on my eyes. I would certainly consider it more then usable with 
as wide as 28mm lenses...
