The attached pictures are of the Convair B-58A Hustler at the National
Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton, Ohio. In 1962, this particular
aircraft won
the last Bendix Trophy Race ever held, flying from Los Angeles to New York
in 2 hours, 58.7 seconds. The B-58 was in service less than 10 years, from
1960 to 1969:

When I first photographed it in May, 1977, is was in rather forlorn
condition:

It's hard to believe that the Douglas B-66 Destroyer next to it was a
contemporary, entering service in 1956 and being retired in 1973, with a few
of the
Navy versions (A3D) lingering on as test mules into the 1980's.

By July 2000, the Bendix Hustler had been restored and moved indoors:

Details: Leica M4, 35mm 'cron Kodachrome 64 (1977). Elite 200 and Flash
(2000).
