My experience with varifocals (progressives), which work OK for me in most 
situations, is that they don't work at all for cameras.  It could vary 
depending on what you need and where it is on the lens when they grind the 
lens, but the "right" part of the lens is always in a place that makes using 
a viewfinder (SLR or RF) very difficult.
