Hi Geoff,

This is how I see it:

The red patch jumps into the eye right away, thus leads to the couple.
I desaturated the photo (in some parts 100%) to help the couple to be
seen almost immediately. Color envelopes them to make a smooth
transition between color and pure B&W zones.
And I kept the green exit sign in frame because I like images where
due to a tiny element the viewer gets stimulated to do something with
it himself, thus adding content to it. I would have liked it to be a
bit lower in the shot, though.
I also like the metrical composition of the image through the
squares, which helps to lead the eye again to the more circular forms
of the couple.
That's why I chose 'framed' as a title.

So I think it works.
I don't think it would work as well in B&W. Haven't tried it
actually, because I'm pretty much conviced of it.

And to be honest: I didn't see half of what I see in it now when I
shot it at the Mus?e d'Orsay.
I consider it to be a very lucky shot.

But I really may be completely wrong, ofcourse.
In which case I look forward to more debate and learn about photography.
That's what we're here for, no?
That, and the amical atmosphere.

Thanks for looking,
Philippe
