if i cannot live forever, i wish only to die quietly. 

as the hindu's say "a swift death is the kiss of god" -- to live 89 years 
and die in one's sleep seems about the best bookends for a life one could 
hope for -- it's what you put between those two that matter. hopefully your 
father filled those days well.
