Steve,
It's funny that Pablo brings up the topic of sharpening.  I've shot that
area we were in, and many others like it, quite a bit.  I get a ton of shots
that look heavy on the sharp side.  It may be in-camera sharpening, but
there may be
something else.  There is so much "information" (god, who thought we
ever use that word with respect to a photograph) in that environment,
especially now with the highly unusual
spring bloom this year, that I have wondered if somehow the sensor doesn't
overwhelmed.  It would be like firing facts and figures at my 5 year old and
watching her head spin.  As you well know I'm no tech guy; just give me
camera and let me shoot.  So, I may be way off base here.  But shots of
"simple" subjects (IE close up portraits) don't seem to suffer the
"information" overload.  The first shot, with the housing development, has a
lot going on.
