I'm way to lazy but there was a posting here, with a link to a web page you
could print out, that gave instructions for measuring focal plane and depth
of field.
It involved a tripod, a flat horizontal surface, your camera, and the test
document. I think you set the camera up to shoot the length of the test page
at some specified angle and then evaluated the image.

I'm sure it's in the archives.
