Subject: [Leica] Leica's revue from lens design

I'm seeing the Leica name on a lot of Panasonic lenses - most recently a
dramatic zoom on their new HD camcorder. I'm wondering what these designs
mean to Leica in terms of revenue. It must be valuable and certainly the
design process must provide tool (software) infrastructure for the optical
design of their M and R lenses.
Does anyone have a feeling for this or is the Leica name just being branded
to Panasonic without any in-house effort? I can't imagine that's true, but .
. .
