When on a professional, commissioned shoot, my back ups are:
R8/DMR
5D
20D

When doing personal work - my backup is an M6 TTL

Always backed up - unless I really don't expect to shoot much - only  
then does the M8 go out alone.
That was also true for me before digital. Always traveled with two or  
more M's.

Any serious photo expedition requires backup and backup of backup.
The only exception was working with view cameras - then an extra lens  
or two provided backup in the event of shutter failure.
