Subject: [Leica] better to keep your sensor clean than keep cleaning your sensor

I used to use canned compressed air... being careful not to get any fluid on
the sensor of my Leica 5D

and in a bind.... occasionally lens fluid and lens tissue over cotton
swabs... Burkina Faso was not kind to my camera gear...... And Colorado
dry static climate is even worse in some sense....

Anyhow.... at some point... I got something around the edges of the sensor
glass from my can of air or the staticmaster brush that was harder to get
off...

In a very short period of time... after cleaning.... testing...
recleaning.... testing..... etc....and although I thought I was always being
careful.... I had a couple of slight scratchs that showed up all of the
time....

So I had to send it off to Canon to have the sensor glass replaced.... and
well.... it was not cheap.....

At this point I will not use anything other than a big bulb type
blower...... And I will not touch my sensor glass... period... [well....
I probably will eventually.... when there is no other recourse.....]

SO... the old adage applies... better to keep your sensor clean.....
than keep cleaning your sensor....
