Food is usually kept simple (and reasonably fatty and stodgy as a good
basis for lots of booze) in Germany,

This evening we had Silesian white sausages and a warm potato salad made
with bouillon (with onions and chives but no mayonnaise) with home made
sweet mustard (mustard with honey and rosemary). Snacks of Hungarian
Gulyas soup and various cheeses (Tete de Moine, Dutch goat's cheese,
Stilton, Shropshire Blue, Wensleydale and Blue Wensleydale) with fruit
bread and data & walnut loaf (accompanied by a very smooth 10-year old,
barrique matured chardonnay grappa) to tide over until the fireworks.

Washed down with German beers, Port and a bottle of Freixenet Spanish
bubbly at midnight.

Cheers
Douglas
