Rob,

Your comment speaks volumes about what's going on today; and not just
with camera equipment, but with everything from electronics to real
estate. People anticipate lower prices so they postpone buying
decisions. It's why economists worry about deflation.

There's good news and bad news for consumers, though. You can find more
bargains. But you're probably not going to seen anything new and better
come along, since there's less money for R&D, and less money for capital
to ramp up new production.

I'm not sure which is good, and which is bad. For instance, new
technology is good, but bad if I just bought into older technology.
Lower prices are good, but bad if they entice me to buy something I
didn't really need. Today I'm more focused on need than want. Everyone
wonders how I survive without having a Blackberry, yet somehow I manage.

I know this sounds crazy, but as a consumer I would like to see the pace
of innovation slow down a bit. If the M8 remains the only option for a
digital rangefinder for the next 5 years it makes the purchase price
that much easier to justify. At least it is for an amateur like me who
doesn't make a living with camera equipment.

KEH has an EX+ condition one for $2895 which should include their 15
day inspection period and 60 day warranty. They just sold an EX
condition for $100 less. I was tempted, but am waiting for $2000 or
less.
