One of the advantages of using a QR system on the wildlife monopod is that 
the plate on the shoulder stock and the clamp on the monopod's tilt head can 
be locked in place so they don't rotate.  There's a lot of rotational stress 
on the shoulder stock/monopod connection and a good QR system will keep the 
'pod tight to the stock.  One disadvantage is that you have to be mindful 
that the clamp is tight or you might end up with a BIG repair bill when the 
QR releases when you don't expect it.  Ask me how I know :-(
