I'm disappointed that my favorite tripod brand is no longer around. I like
the Welt Safe-Lok (two section) designs (in conjunction with a ball head).
These have a larger lower section sliding over the upper, with locking
levers
at the top. The ones with rubber feet can be put in water or snow without
crud getting into the mechanism, and the height can be changed fast on
all three legs simultaneously, without having to manipulate many separate
catches, or bending down.
I'm hoping mine keeps going as long as I need it.
