Hi Frank,

As an engineer as well I don't know the reason. From what I know  
(very little) from the Transparent cable literature is that through  
the choice of cable type, length and the addition of in-line filters  
that self resonance which gets into the audio band is eliminated.  
This minimizes distortion and peaks and valleys in the response. I  
also think there is a lot of trial and error going on in the design  
of these cables.
