Indeed Frank. And it's a 9880, not 9800; different inks, different heads,
different drop sizes, different (better IMO) prints.

I had a 4000; liked it VERY much other than the clogs. I once took a print
as wide as it could print (around 16.5") into my dealer along with the file
and asked them if they would print it on the same type paper with one of the
new HP's with a built in spectrophotometer. They did, and the only
difference was a bit more sharpness because the drop size was smaller. They
were very surprised.

Then the 9880 and the 7880 went on sale. Epson was giving credit for having
one of their printers, 3 or 4 free rolls of paper, etc. The 7880 max width
is 24" (22 really with wiggle room borders). When you're printing squares
that's really not very big when you have big scanned files. 44" is much
better :-) With borders it's really 42. Many of my prints are right in the
middle; about 34 - 38". The price per inch difference in cost is much less
going from the 7880 to the 9880 than from the 4880 to the 7880.

So that was my rationale (not that it took much for me to convince me).
Besides, my son finished college so I put it in his room so he wouldn't be
able to come back and live at home ;-)

Best,
Bob

Bob... why the 9800? Big prints?

I am looking to find if there is something else that would gravitate a buyer
towards this big a printer......

My 9880 is bug free. Amazing machine.
