I have been shooting lately almost exclusively with a D700, but I find
that I just can't get close to people with this big camera and huge
lenses. So, I picked up a Voigtlander 21mm f/4, and decided to try
getting close to people again.

This is a set of photos taken today at Silverado, an Alzheimer's home
in Escondido, California. My mother-in-law is a resident, and today
was a tea for the mother's and daughters.

The lens for the first eight photos is the CV 21mm f/4, with a B+W 486
filter, but with lens detection turned off on the M8. For some
reason, I can't get it to code reliably. Looking at the sky, it
doesn't seem to make that much of a difference. The colors are right.

We were in the shade, but the background was very bright. I think the
Voigtlander performed just fine, with little flare. Its small size
makes the experience more intimate. Look at L1051604. I was sitting
next to my wife, about 2 feet away. I couldn't imagine that smile if
I was holding a D700, plus a zoom 24-70.

The last photo was a 35mm Summicron.

All in all, it is nice to be back. I have a CV 15mm on order!

Comments, criticism, and suggestions appreciated.
