I posted my results from trying Peter's digital camera scanning here:

Scanning with the camera is fine for quick, easy scans but for the 
best quality, a dedicated film scanner is much better.  Since this 
experiment, I've gotten much better results using Lasersoft to scan 
Kodachromes.
