When I bought my M8 last December, I wanted another body for backup in
case the electronic gremlins got to me or batteries ran out or
whatever. So I decided to get a mechanical film body. It did not seem
to make sense to use an electronic camera as backup for another
electronic camera. Hence, when I travel, I carry a Bessa R2M body in
my bag. It is totally mechanical, the batteries are used just for the
light meter, and it takes all my M lenses. I have it loaded with Tri-
X. So far, my M8 has been 100% reliable (about 6000 pictures), so the
backup function has not come into play. But the other day it was
raining in Warsaw and I did not think the M8 would appreciate getting
wet--so I took out the Bessa and things worked fine.
