Hi Chris,
I have never found the old screwdriver focussing to be slow, and,  
being old fashioned, I rather like the aperture ring. I shall not be  
changing mine. I would not be bothered either about VR on this either,  
but I am not sure it is feasible, hence my post in my reply to the  
person suggesting it.
