Phil,

If you are thinking of scanning a lot of negatives or slides, it will 
probably work out cheaper in the long run if you get yourself a scanner.

I think most people here on the list will agree that a Nikon Coolscan is 
probably the best value for money (I have a V ED that scans single 
slides or strips of negatives with an adapter). The Nikon scanning 
software seems quite adequate too (I scan directly to Adobe Lightroom 
for processing and generally only use Nikon's standard scan settings), 
although other people swear by other brands of scanning software.

If you need scanning services, take a look in the ads in UK photographic 
mags - there are literally hundreds of places that will do it for you - 
the professional labs are, however, pretty expensive.
