Nope,
I bought my first one, a Speed Perfix  for $5 somtime around 1964. 
http://www.vintagephoto.tv/speedcandid.shtml  It was in the very, very used 
section of a local camera shop. I have no idea what happened to it but I 
bought one just like it for $10 about two or three years ago.
