Replicas and computer generated images of the F8C were used in  the Peter 
Jackson remake.
 
In the original film, Navy pilots stationed on Long Island flew Curtiss  
O2C-s and Consolidated NY-1 biplanes and were paid $10.00 each under the  
table.  $100 was officially donated to the Navy Fund.
