Well if it was me I'd not throw mine away but continue to use it as you've
stated with a longer lens or narrower view for  "inserts".  As a second
camrea. And backup camera.
Sell  it to who and for how much?
I'd not want that kind of Karma.
 I'd just keep it.
 -or give it away and with a  friendly warning and a wrong telephone number.
Tell them to throw salt over their shoulder like when you give sombody a
knife.
