I knew that I should 'have avoided getting into this. I should have phrased
more carefully. Of course there is a great deal more to IQ than the
sensor's photosites' size and density.
The physical dimensions and pixel count of the X1 and the D300 are similar
and the source is reportedly the same. From my limited shooting of the X1 at
low ISO in bright window light, its IQ is excellent.
Shooting in the same light with the same unscientific methods, The S2 with
its 'puny' smaller photosites has jawdropping IQ
