Not dumb.  Most of my Friday Flowers for the past few years were indeed shot
with the 35 summicron asph.  My trick though, is to shoot at about the
closest focus of the lens, moving the camera to bring the image into focus
with the rangefinder.

I then crop the image to suit my composition.  The M8 and the 35 can stand
quite a lot of crop.

That said, the stuff over the past few weeks has mostly been with the Lumix
20mm on my Olympus EP-1, though a couple were with a Leica 75mm.
