Greg,

I don't self code my lenses, but you only need to code the black. I have
only two coded lenses, a 21mm and 28mm lenses, the rest are not coded, and
the camera is always set for coded lenses. works just fine.

For the Lugger's self coding their M lenses for use with their M8/9:

Do you need to code lenses in both black and white or just black?

Is there a particular marker or paint that works best for this?

TIA.
