Lluis,

Last year I went to West Photo in Minneapolis with a couple of 35mm
slides to try on both a V700 and the Nikon Coolscan 5000, two of the
scanners they have and let you try out with your own slides or
negatives. I scanned both slides at the highest dpi settings on both
scanners and saved the results on a CD so I could look at them at
home and print them out on my printer. I did that and made several
different prints from them and examined the results. The results
amazed and distressed me: if I could tell any difference between
them, and it was close, the difference I saw was in favor of the
V700. It distressed me because I really wanted the Nikon scanner to
give me significantly better scans than the flatbed Epson. But it
didn't. So, I sold the Epson 4870 that I had and bought the V700.
I have been very, very pleased with the results I've gotten with the
V700, in particular a series of Rollei color negatives that I have
rescanned on it. I make 25x25 prints from Rollei negatives and the
V700 versions were noticeably sharper and more detailed than what I
had gotten from the 4870. And I have made scans from Leica and
Nikon slides and negatives that I have printed at 20x30 inches with
great success. Perhaps the Nikon 9000 scanner would give me even
better results from medium format, but I find that hard to imagine.

Best,
Robert
