I draw the line at "news" and "documentary" photographs.
No such manipulation (as seen in your link)
should occur when documenting events and news.
The news and documentary venues
demand "strict" guidelines and enforcement.

Photo illustration and editorial illustration using photography
or other visual media (as in the case of The Economist cover)
qualifies as a completely different venue.
