I agree that it's the #1 area for improvement for Leica.

In B&W, I can get much finer grain than this out of Delta 3200 or TMZ
at comparable EIs.

Agfa RSX 1000 or Kodak Etapress 1600 looked pretty good, but grainy.
but the grain didn't have weird colours mixed in or strange
patterning.  The noise from M8 or M9 high ISO shots look ugly (to me)
because of chroma noise, irregular, blocky patterning and banding.  I
can clean much of the noise up with NeatImage or Noiseware, but the
chroma noise and banding are harder to handle.
