But more often than not they feel unnatural and unnecessary to my eye. I truly understand the use of stitching to achieve file size (for large prints) and/or expand the view with lens available. Yet rarely do I have the feeling that the image was "seen as" and could only be realized using a panoramic format. Disclaimer: I owned the xPan and all three lenses for almost two years. In that time I only made about a dozen photographs which "strongly" used the format. Apparently I simply don't see in this extended format. When I worked my 12x20 it seemed to work much better for me. The whole process required "seeing" in the format before I'd even consider setting it up.
