That's true in a society that is used to cameras and flashes.  In rural
Honduras and Guatemala, they have never seen a flash.  The only light they
have seen other than the sun and moon and firelight and candles, is a
flashlight.  It is amazing to them to see a sudden bright light and they
don't ignore it or forget it.  I'll try to find some of the several hundred
photos I have of families staring in amazement at a flash, until I finally
stopped using them altogether.
