Eh?  I would think 35mm and wider would need the most correction, 
therefore, need coding.

Or is "above" equal to "longer"?

Then I would agree, 35mm and longer would need less correction.

Oh, but that was for the M8 smaller sensor.  What about full frame - are 
you back to needing correction at, say, 50mm?

Pretty obvious I don't have an M9.
